Department of Education and Training The SIE co-operates with the main European organisations involved in Christian education and connected with the Co-ordinating Group for Religious Education in Europe (CoGREE), which was founded in 1998 in order to develop and sustain the co-operation between networks and organisations working in the field of religious education. In particular the SIE is a member of two CoGREE member-organisations: The European Conference on Christian Education (ECCE), which is a forum for the exchange of ideas, models and discussions relating to issues of Sunday school work and Christian education; the ECCE co-operates with the World Council of Churches (WCC) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC). The Intereuropean Commission on Church and School (ICCS), which is a network of churches, institutes for education, and state organisations (from 20 European countries) dealing with religious education; the ICCS takes a special interest in relations between churches and schools and fosters an ecumenical and interreligious orientation. It is an associated member of the CEC, and co-operates with the WCC. Since 1986 the ICCS, as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), has had consultative status at the Council of Europe. The SIE pedagogist is a member of the ICCS board.
