| The Evangelical Churches' Commission for the Relations with the State (CCERS) is a unique space for reflection and dialogue among all Italian denominations and for common advocacy of rights related with religious freedom. The CCERS is an independent Commission, which is promoted by the FCEI and chaired by the FCEI President.
The Commission was originally founded in 1946, when a new Republican Constitution was to be established after the end of the Fascist regime. When the FCEI was founded in 1967, a consultive commission continued to work on behalf of all Italian Evangelical denominations. The current structure of the CCERS was set up when a new regulation of relations between State and churches was established in 1984-86.
The members of the CCERS are the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy and all its member churches, the Assembly of God in Italy, the Italian Union of Seventh-Day Adventist Churches, the Federation of Pentecostal Churches, the Brethren, the Nazaren Church, the Apostolic Church and the Italian Apostolic Church, the International Evangelical Church and the Christian Evangelical Church.
The CCERS aims to participate in the decision-making process about laws concerning the churches (i.e. social work, tax system, religious teaching in public schools etc.). |
